We’re buzzing with excitement for the 6th installment of Chef Angie Brown’s Chef Series!

Each month, Chef Angie has gathered various local chefs to join her in the kitchen to create and collaborate on an innovative menu and tasing experience. These creative collaboration infuse ingredients, skills and personal stories into an elegant five-course tasting menu.

Join us on August 4th from 6-9pm. and taste a beautiful fusion of life-long friends. Chef Angie Brown has partnered with Chef Brian Meerbott to produce a 5-course Mediterranean & Southern inspired dining event. Dishes will be served on vintage plateware from Chef Angie’s private collection and come accompanied with personal stories, anecdotes, and one on one guest interaction.

Meerbott Hospitality was founded by Chef Brian Meerbott, whose journey from Navy Operations Specialist to culinary expert shaped his dedication to precision, teamwork, and excellence. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Drexel University’s Culinary Arts program and working in catering, restaurant management, and private dining, Brian created Meerbott Hospitality to blend his passions for food, service, and hospitality consulting. Today, we offer a range of personalized services designed to enhance your dining and entertainment experiences.

Join us on June 16th for our 5th installment of the Chef Series at Rex at the Royal. Chef Angie Brown has partnered with Chef Nana Wilmot to produce a 5-course southern inspired dining event. Dishes will be served on vintage plateware from Chef Angie’s private collection.

Meet Nana Araba!

Nana Araba Wilmot is the Chef/ Owner of Georgina’s Private Chef and Catering Co. and Curator of Love That I Knead, a West African-focused dinner series. Holding degrees in Culinary Arts and Culinary Management from the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Chef Nana has worked for numerous Culinary Luminaries, including Wolfgang Puck, Iron Chef Jose Garces, Stephen Starr and Chef Daniel Rose at Le CouCou in NYC, which won a James Beard Best New Restaurant 2017 and a Michelin Star in 2018.

Chef Nana’s Culinary focuses on celebrating foodways across the African Diaspora, using her dishes to explore her identity and help others “find their way back”. Spanning locations in Philadelphia, NYC, and Accra Ghana, her work has been featured in numerous publications including Bon Appetit, Forbes, New York Times, Eater, and Eater NY.

Most recently, Chef Nana has been seen on Food Network’s CHOPPED and featured in the highly anticipated Cookbook “The Contemporary African Kitchen” by Alexander Smalls, released in October 2024.

For those you who may not know, April is a writer, chef, urban homesteader, and the founder of Farmer’s Daughter, an award-winning pickling and preserving company, that she has operated in North Carolina for 11 years. Her passion for social justice and food justice in particular led her to 215 People’s Alliance and then People’s Kitchen Philadelphia, where she is excited to share her fermentation and food preservation skills to help build food security, sovereignty, and community in Philadelphia. She is the author of two books, Sweet Potatoes (UNC Press) and Canning and Preserving (Centennial Media). Follow her on Instagram @preservingthesouth.

We are so excited to partner again with our good friends and neighbors at The Bethesda Project for a fun and an interactive fundraising event— Cocktails for a Cause!

For those of you who don’t know, The Bethesda Project is a non-profit organization, located at 11 different locations all across the city. Since 1979, their organization strides to offers a home and safe environment where guests and residents can stabilize, regain their dignity and self-worth, and find community. No matter how the world changes, Bethesda Project remains committed to its initial calling — to find and care for the abandoned poor and to be family with those who have none. They do so by providing shelter, housing, and supportive services to adults experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia.

Looking to show your support and get involved? Join us in our mezzanine on 4/4 for Cocktails for a Cause! From 6-8pm, be apart of a guided cocktail class from our in-house beverage expert, James, and learn lessons on how to build, shake & pour a selection of our takes on popular cocktails. Learn to craft high quality cocktails that are easy to repeat all on your own. There will be non-alcoholic cocktails options for any of us who don’t partake in alcoholic drinking as well.

Happy Women’s Month! We are so excited to announce that we’ll be participating in Women’s Way Wednesday!

For the whole month of March, Sisterly Love Collective have held a weekly pop-up at the stratus lounge, celebrating various women-owned and operated culinary and beverage establishments in the great city of Philadelphia. From 5-7;30pm, enjoy thoroughly curated bites from different chefs, with additional featured drinks, music and mingling.

Join us on Wednesday 3/26 for the finale of Women’s Way Wednesday! Our very own Chef Angie Brown will be closing us off in style. She’ll be serving up her own Creole Royale bites. A twist on a classic Creole Vol-au-vent, featuring our signature biscuits.
